Slow Down to Run Faster?

A client who runs marathons told me about the Galloway marathon method of alternating running for 8 minutes and then walking for 1 minute throughout the entire course. (For information about the method, check www.jeffgalloway.com.) My client said that even though it was hard to make herself walk so early in the race, she finished with her best time ever and was not sore.

Is there a lesson here?
