| Your head is similar to a bowling ball balanced on a stack of dimes. It stays attached to the rest of you thanks
to guy wires (muscles). When your head is upright, it weighs 12 pounds (it could be more). Your lower cervical spine experiences compressive forces of a matching 12 pounds. Nice and equal. But for every inch your head’s center of gravity shifts forward, the compressive forces on your cervical spine increase by another 12 pounds. |

You can see how destructive a forward head posture can be if held for very long. Mother was right: Sit up straight. Stand up straight. Don’t slouch. |
